The Irrationality of Fears

“He was making no sense. Fears were never rational, after all. When they ate you up, gnawing at your insides, they would quicken the heartbeats and an insidious haze would take over the mind, obscuring it with doubts and worries” - Killian can’t fool himself anymore as he succumbs to his treacherous insecurities. I finally decided to try writing a CS fanfiction ! And for once, I decided to try publishing it. Let me know what you guys think. It’s a post-finale one-shot set in Neverland.

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/9313943/1/Ease-The-Mind

While daytime could fool you about Neverland’s true nature by the beauty of its green landscapes and the sapphire blue of the sea, nighttime reminded one’s mind about the dangers that prowled around. The moon was high in the dark blue sky, reflecting on the ocean, and the stars shined bright in the vast nothing. The Neverland forest looked ominous and frightful, a somber mass so still it looked eerie. When she thought it through, nothing about this place made Emma feel comfortable. So imagining her own little boy somewhere in there, surrounded by people that could harm him, rocked her to the core and brought an angst-filled grimace to her face.

She was currently sitting on the ledge of the Jolly Roger, her legs swinging above the calm water. Just as the forest, everything was silent and unmoving. Neverland was much warmer than Storybrooke, so she hadn’t bothered putting on her coat when getting out of the bunk she had chosen to sleep in, clad in a tank top and her jeans.

Whenever a magical bean appeared on the show, it always embodied the search for one’s desire. Little Baelfire was given a magical bean by the Blue Fairy in order to find a home for his father and himself where they could be rid of magic’s lethal influence and be happy. Hook and Cora used the bean to go to Storybrooke, respectively to seek revenge and regain the love of a daughter. Emma & co. have most recently used a magical bean to search for Henry in Neverland.

Now, Emma was compared to a bean. It was dried and useless at first but then it proved that it was not so useless and lacking of any magical properties. Hook has a very important link to the bean (and it seems weird saying that) because he’s the one who’s actually had the biggest “connection” to it. Killian’s dealt with magical beans several times. This is only going to be speculation, but I think that Milah and him might have searched for a magical bean back then so as to go take Bae, and start a family together. The second time was with his whole ‘I’ll try to make it seem like I hate you’ speech to Emma and then the bean being his means of transport to  Storybrooke, where he has a revenge to fulfill. The last time he used one could parallel the first (given that the theory is right, which is not sure at all). Killian used that bean to lead a whole group of people to search for a boy, Emma’s child. There was previously this whole inner conflict raging in him, which was about what he desired - getting the hell out of here safe or coming back to help the town. Hook ended up changing his heart’s desire or rather sticking to it (since IMO it was his head that told him to save his skin). Which, if you think of Emma as the bean, feels pretty telling. She factored greatly in Hook’s decision ; he cares about her. Emma is the search for a home, for a happiness. That’s what she’s starting to represent to Hook and will surely end up to.
